Facebook has mirrored Twitter in launching its very own Moments in the form of Sports Stadium.
Facebook Sports Stadium basically works to help you find out the live updates of your favourite sports team and whatever game is happening right now.
The new feature has four tabs that you can check during an in-progress game:
- Matchup: A live update of the plays happening in the match including a score summary. Users can comment on and share these real-time updates and videos.
- Friends: You will be able to see if your Facebook friends are also watching and talking about the game, featuring a live-feed of their match-related updates.
- Experts: Similar to the ‘Friends’ tab, but for verified accounts who are also keeping up-to-date with the game.
- Stats: Team statistics that will be updated throughout the game.
Facebook will be using this new update as a way to compete with Twitter’s ‘Moments’, however Twitter are almost one step ahead of them, having linked up with major sporting networks such as ESPN and NBC Sports, so Facebook’s Stadium will have a lot to live up to.
The launch of Sports Stadium deliberately coincided with last weekend’s NFL Conference Championships, and should have any glitches sorted out before the massive Super Bowl 50 in a few weeks time.
Another downfall of the new Facebook update is that it is currently only available in the U.S. on iPhones, but should be expanding within the coming weeks.
